About the Program

For kids who are constantly drawing, imagining, painting, and creating — Young Artist Studio offers something different from traditional art classes.

Unlike step-by-step classes where every child creates the same project, students receive individualized guidance based on their interests, confidence level, and creative goals.

This is a guided studio environment designed for children who want to create original work while developing real artistic skills.

Whether your child loves animals, fantasy worlds, comics, painting, storytelling, nature, or illustration — students learn foundational artistic skills through subjects they genuinely love.

Drop-Off Structure
This is a drop-off only program. Parents do not stay during class.

Why Parents Love This Program

Many creative kids eventually outgrow traditional art classes.

Parents often tell us their child:

Loves art but feels bored by repetitive projects

Wants more freedom to create

Is constantly drawing at home

Wants to improve their skills

Thrives with individualized attention

Young Artist Studio bridges the gap between casual crafts and serious art instruction, while still keeping creativity joyful, encouraging, and age-appropriate.

Here, students are encouraged to think like artists: To observe, experiment, problem-solve, and create work that feels uniquely their own.

Inspired by a Traditional Atelier Approach

This program is rooted in the early training of artist Lindsay Agnew, who began studying under a master oil painter at age six in an atelier-style environment focused on observation, technique, and individualized artistic development.

Today, Lindsay creates that same type of learning experience through Young Artist Studio — helping young artists build strong artistic foundations while developing confidence and discovering their own creative voice.

How Young Artist Studio Works

STEP 1
Creative Skills Assessment

Each student begins with a guided observational drawing project (still life).

This is not a test — it simply helps identify where each child is in their artistic journey.

This allows instruction to be personalized from the very beginning.

STEP 2
Choose a Creative Path

After the first session, students choose the medium and direction that excites them most.

Drawing & Illustration, Acrylic Painting, Watercolor and Mixed Media & Experimental Art

Students are encouraged to bring ideas, inspiration images, sketches, or subjects they want to create.

STEP 3
Studio-Based Learning

Each 90-minute class blends:

Personalized instruction
Technique building
Guided creative support
Independent studio work time
One-on-one feedback and mentorship

Students work at their own level — not the class average.

This creates a calm, encouraging environment where creativity and skill can grow together.

Studio-Based Learning

Each 90-minute Session Blends

Skill instruction (technique building)
Guided creation (step-by-step support when needed) Independent work (developing confidence and style)

Children learn best when:
They are engaged in subjects they care about

Young Artist Studio is designed to support exactly that.
