Made With What I Had
Building Studio Agnew with what I have, one connection, one class, and one creative moment at a time.

I needed a sign for the studio window, so I painted one.
Well… actually, I started with a pull-up banner.
When I first opened the studio, I placed a banner I already had right up against the window. It had my logo on it, and hey—it was a start. I was using what I already had to make the space feel like Studio Agnew while I figured out what would come next.
Eventually, I decided to paint the logo directly onto the glass. I mean, I’m an artist, and this is an art studio. Sometimes when you need something, you just use paint.
There’s something very fitting about that.
Artists are resourceful. We work with what we have, figure things out, and turn ideas into something tangible. A lot of what you see in the studio right now came from using what I already had and finding creative ways to make it work.
These are humble beginnings—and I’m proud of that.
This is my first studio. It doesn’t have to be perfect right away. It just needs to be a place where creativity can happen.
Now the logo is on the window for everyone to see—putting something you made out into the world.
But that’s part of being creative, too. You make something, you put it out there, and you see what happens.
That mindset has helped me get Studio Agnew to where it is today.
Over the past month, I’ve presented Studio Agnew at three different 1 Million Cups chapters, including Clermont last week and Eustis this morning. If you’re not familiar with 1 Million Cups, it’s a weekly gathering where local entrepreneurs share what they’re building, connect with other business owners, and receive feedback and support from their community.
For me, it has been about much more than giving a presentation. It’s been a chance to introduce Studio Agnew to new people, meet other entrepreneurs, listen to their stories, and start building relationships in the communities I hope to serve.
But one of my favorite things about 1 Million Cups is the platform itself. You get six minutes, a room full of people, and no script telling you exactly what to say. You have to stand up and tell people what you’re building—and why you believe in it.
That takes a little courage.
So does putting your work on a window for everyone to see.
You don’t always know who will connect with what you’re creating, where a conversation will lead, or what might come from simply saying, “Hi, I’m Lindsay, and this is what I’m building.”
But you have to start somewhere.
Studio Agnew is still taking shape, and that’s part of what makes this stage so exciting. Every class, conversation, new connection, and idea adds another piece to what this place can become.
My hope is that Studio Agnew becomes more than a place to take an art class. I want it to be a place where you can try something new, meet people, make something with your hands, and maybe discover a creative side of yourself you didn’t know was there.
So if you’ve driven past the studio and wondered what’s inside, come check it out.
The lights are on. The logo is on the window. Classes and workshops are happening, and there’s always something new to learn or make. I’m even working on an A-frame sign to put outside the studio, so there will be one more little invitation to stop and see what’s happening inside.
You don’t have to consider yourself an artist. You just have to be curious.
Maybe this is your sign to come see what we’re making.
And who knows?
It might just be the beginning of something new for you, too.
