What’s Inside Studio Agnew?

If you’ve recently discovered Studio Agnew, you might be wondering what exactly happens inside this little studio.

Is it an art classroom? A gallery? A working artist’s studio?

The answer is all of those things—and more.

At the center of Studio Agnew is me—Lindsay Agnew. I’m an artist, designer, muralist, author, illustrator, and arts educator.

My creative journey began with fine art and has grown through decades of exploring different creative disciplines. From studying at Ringling College of Art and Design to working at Walt Disney Imagineering and serving as Creative Director for Panama Jack, each experience has added another layer to the creative practice that is now Studio Agnew.

Today, all of those creative paths have found their way into one space.

So, if you’re curious about what you might find when you walk through the door, here’s a little look inside.

An Artist’s Studio

First and foremost, Studio Agnew is an artist’s studio.

This is where ideas begin, projects take shape, and creativity is always somewhere in progress. You might find paintings on the walls, works in progress on the tables, supplies waiting for the next class, or a new idea taking over on canvas.

It’s a working creative space—not just a place where art is displayed, but a place where art is actually made.

And my roots as an artist go back much further than Studio Agnew.

At just six years old, I began studying oil painting under a master oil painter. Those early years of learning to observe, mix color, work with materials, and develop the discipline of painting established a foundation that has remained part of my creative life ever since.

Fine art wasn't something that came later in my career.

It was where my creative journey began.

A Designer

Design became another chapter in that creative journey.

After earning a BFA in Graphic + Interactive Communication from Ringling College of Art and Design, I built a professional career spanning graphic design, illustration, environmental graphic design, visual storytelling, and creative direction.

My experience at Walt Disney Imagineering included environmental graphic design—creating visual elements such as signage that help shape how people experience a physical space.

That work gave me a unique perspective on the relationship between art, design, storytelling, and the environments people move through every day.

I later served as Creative Director for Panama Jack, bringing creative direction and design to a completely different kind of brand.

Those experiences continue to influence the work I create at Studio Agnew today.

A painting can tell a story. A mural can transform a wall. A sign can change how someone experiences a space. A workshop can turn an idea into an experience.

Design has taught me that creativity isn't limited to a canvas. It can shape a space, communicate an idea, solve a problem, or change the way someone experiences a place.

A Muralist

Some ideas simply aren't meant to stay inside the studio.

My work as a muralist brings art into larger spaces, where paintings become part of the environments around them.

Murals are an interesting intersection of art and design. They have to work on a much larger scale, respond to the architecture and surroundings, and become part of the experience of the people who see them.

It’s another way to take an idea from a sketchbook and turn it into something people can experience in the real world.

A Self-Published Author & Illustrator

Storytelling has always been an important part of my creative work, and self-publishing has given me another way to bring those stories to life.

I’m the author and illustrator of Princess Anna and the Twinkling Jewels and Star’s Imagination: A Creative Journey of Art and Stories.

Creating a book brings together many different creative skills—writing, illustration, design, storytelling, editing, and production.

There is something incredibly rewarding about starting with an idea in a sketchbook and watching it become something people can hold in their hands.

An Arts Educator

One of the most active parts of Studio Agnew is teaching.

As an arts educator, I create classes and workshops designed to help people learn, explore, and build confidence in their creative abilities.

Inside the studio, students can explore drawing, watercolor, acrylic painting, printmaking, mixed media, book arts, and more.

But Studio Agnew isn't about simply making something to take home.

It’s about learning how to create.

Understanding materials. Developing skills. Trying new techniques. Making mistakes. Solving creative problems. And discovering what happens when you give yourself permission to keep learning.

I believe creativity is something that can continue to develop throughout a lifetime. There is always another medium to explore, another technique to try, or another idea waiting to become something more.

A Fine Art Studio

Studio Agnew is also home to my fine art practice.

Alongside teaching and creative experiences, I continue to create original artwork, including paintings, drawings, murals, fine art prints, and other creative projects.

The studio gives me a place to balance two important parts of being an artist: developing my own body of work and helping others develop their creative skills.

Because artists never really stop learning.

There is always something new to observe, experiment with, or discover.

Throughout Studio Agnew, you may also discover original artwork and creations made by me.

The Artwork of Lindsay Agnew is where my artwork, illustrations, and creative projects find their way into the world.

From original pieces and fine art prints to smaller creative products, these works are an extension of the ideas that begin right here in the studio.

Each one starts somewhere—with a sketch, an idea, a collection of materials, or simply the curiosity to see what happens next.

Sustainable Creations Made from Found Objects

Some of the most interesting creative materials have already lived another life.

I love finding unexpected objects and imagining what else they could become.

Found materials, forgotten pieces, and objects that might otherwise be thrown away can become part of something entirely new. These sustainable creations are a reminder that creativity doesn't always require starting with something brand new.

Sometimes, you just have to look at something differently.

Repurposing materials also creates a different kind of creative challenge. Instead of beginning with a blank canvas, the materials themselves can help determine where the idea goes next.

The Artist Archive: High-Quality Art Scanning

Studio Agnew is also a place where artists can preserve their work.

Through The Artist Archive, I offer high-quality art scanning services designed to help artists create professional digital files of their original artwork.

Whether the goal is to preserve a piece, create prints, build a portfolio, submit artwork digitally, or simply have a high-quality digital copy, professional scanning helps capture the original artwork with care.

With a background in both fine art and design, I understand the importance of creating a digital reproduction that accurately represents the original work.

Because an original painting deserves more than a quick photo taken with a phone.

Studio Agnew is a reflection of the many creative paths that have shaped my career—from studying fine art and design at Ringling College of Art and Design, to working at Walt Disney Imagineering, serving as Creative Director for Panama Jack, creating murals, publishing books, making artwork, and teaching others.

All of those experiences have helped shape what Studio Agnew is today.

It’s not just one thing.
